DIONYSIS SARAJI
b. 2001, Venice, IT
Lives and works in Bologna, IT
Using a variety of media, but favouring textiles and ceramics, Dionysis develops a research that uncovers, reestablishes, and deepens numerous aspects of his own identity.
Central themes include Persian culture, observed through his father's narratives and the study of decorative artistic elements in miniatures and carpets, as well as elements of Greek mythology. His works are characterized by the extreme fluidity of bodies, focused on the relationship with gender, and the daring exploration of the fine line that separates reality from fantasy and play.
These themes are reworked from a playful perspective, with references to Persian visual culture reimagined in bright colours and intertwined forms. The body transforms in the relationship between sculptural and pictorial elements, merging into drops, chimeras, fishnets, and snakes.
